Take action

This is a call for action. Lately, I've been consuming endlessly, immensely, and terribly. I've been devouring books and information so much that I spare no time for action. My mind was telling me I don't know enough, I don't have the right information. Now the paradox here is that the more you consume, the less knowledgeable you feel. You realise there is so much that you are clueless about. This create a vicious circle of unlimited consumption. The internet contains an infinite amount of information, so there is actually no end to the amount of information you can acquire. However, there is a limit to how much you can take and retain.

I feel like I've reached a point where I was simply wandering, not focusing. It's like I was eating, but never feeling satiated. I mean it's an awesome thing to be a continuous and avid learner and reader, until it takes away all attention from doing. Also, by continuously consuming information one after the other, I have no time to really digest, before taking in more information. As a result, I haven't learn much, because previous information get drowned. So I need to calm down, pause and take more action. Act upon the books I read, instead of speed read, enjoy the journey, the words and don't rush to finish a book. Understand, appreciate, fully grasp the meaning. This is a call to slow down and to not simply be a reader, but an action-taker.

Action is important because it shows willingness and gives faith to what you're trying to achieve. It gives weight and power to your dream.

Tiny steps

I admit, I lost track again. It's alright. We all do. Things happen. Stumbles are part of the journey. To get back to life, take tiny steps. 1 single action. The key is it doesn't have to be huge, only enough to get you started again.

Consistency

You've got to be consistent in whatever you do. To improve, learn, and be successful, you've got to be committed and consistently do what you must, in order to move in the direction of your dreams. Consistency will determine the value of your determination and how far you will get. Of course, it's not an easy task- to stay focus and not lose faith. Hang in there, 0.1% improvement is always better than zero. Over time it compounds and leads to unexpected results. Be driven by the system, by the action, by what it takes. Persevere and be consistent.

Minimalism

There has been a recent movement towards minimalism, living a minimalistic life. The idea is to reduce consumption, be comfortable with what you have and live a clutter-free life.  Many of us cannot tolerate the idea is living without being surrounded by material things. We feel so comfortable in an environment of accumulation and we fail to see that our belongings are not only taking physical space but also mental space. I was slowly progressing towards clearing my space when I came across the term and it clicked. It was like the word definition to what I was going through. Although I wouldn't call myself a minimalist, I now take more care of my space. I'm more appreciative of what I have and feel less compelled to buy things. I realise material things are not valuable to us unless we are using them. With this in mind, I ask myself if I really need that item, will it bring anything positive to my life? If not, I don't need that item. I make better purchasing choic...
