Take action

This is a call for action. Lately, I've been consuming endlessly, immensely, and terribly. I've been devouring books and information so much that I spare no time for action. My mind was telling me I don't know enough, I don't have the right information. Now the paradox here is that the more you consume, the less knowledgeable you feel. You realise there is so much that you are clueless about. This create a vicious circle of unlimited consumption. The internet contains an infinite amount of information, so there is actually no end to the amount of information you can acquire. However, there is a limit to how much you can take and retain.

I feel like I've reached a point where I was simply wandering, not focusing. It's like I was eating, but never feeling satiated. I mean it's an awesome thing to be a continuous and avid learner and reader, until it takes away all attention from doing. Also, by continuously consuming information one after the other, I have no time to really digest, before taking in more information. As a result, I haven't learn much, because previous information get drowned. So I need to calm down, pause and take more action. Act upon the books I read, instead of speed read, enjoy the journey, the words and don't rush to finish a book. Understand, appreciate, fully grasp the meaning. This is a call to slow down and to not simply be a reader, but an action-taker.

Action is important because it shows willingness and gives faith to what you're trying to achieve. It gives weight and power to your dream.

Positive Affirmations

I have always been a great affirmer of positive reinforcements. Positive affirmations bring light in our life. Our thoughts have a tendency to be negative. How many times do you feel like you are being thrown over the edge? We are quick to succumb to doubt, anger, fear.  Deep inside, we are strong, fearless and confident human beings. However, all these positive innate qualities are buried as we grow up, due to criticism, embarrassment and judgement. Our family has expectations from us, everybody seems to know what's best for you. At a young age, it doesn't really matter. Our mind is not fully developed, so we take in everything, without really questioning its significance. Truth is we don't know the impact until much later. Indirectly, we let our inner desires fade away in the process; we don't know any better. We do what we must, based on society's beliefs of the definition of success. Unfortunately, when we don't follow our heart comes a deep sense of un...

Developing Daily Habits

I was made aware of this concept whilst I was reading the book 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olson. We have the ability to choose what we want to do with our lives. The distinction between those people who are successful- not referring to financial gain- and those who are unsuccessful comes down to habits. What is it you are making every day that is bringing you forward towards achieving your dreams/ goals. What is it you are doing that is moving you away from your dreams? Successful people do what unsuccessful people don't do. They are committed to self-development, growing, doing what it takes every single day- the mundane actions. Take for example, reading 10 pages a day compounded over time leads to a great deal of pages read. You don't have to start big, but create a momentum. Daily repetitive actions over time lead to accumulation of wealth. The problem here is that not many of us are willing to do those actions every day. We are quick to sink to old habits, we a...

Gratitude

As this year comes to a close, I believe the most rewarding action to take is to list down all the things you are grateful for. It will be a gateway to reflect on all that happened during the year. It'll be an opportunity to unwind and see all the blessings you received. Sometimes what appears to be challenging and undesirable turned out to be a learning curve.  This is the time to be reminded of all the lessons learnt. Life has so much to teach us, but all lessons are learnt within and kept inside. Be aware that we have all that we need at any given time. I'm grateful for 2017 and all that it came with. Count your blessings.
