Success

I stumbled across this definition of success while reading the book 'An artist's Way of Seeing' by Mary Whyte (which I strongly recommend- a very insightful and intriguing book). It read "Success is measured not in how much we achieve, but in how much we overcome".

I found this is so profound and it really touched me. Success is often deemed to be measured by how much we earn, what we do for a living and things that are not relevant to our being. Success is much more. The truth is we should be the judge of whether we are successful or not, no one else.

Success is going through life and keep moving forward with a positive attitude. Success is every time we stand up after a fall. Success is not giving up. Success is doing the thing you love. Success is having a vision and striving for that with passion.

Consistency

You've got to be consistent in whatever you do. To improve, learn, and be successful, you've got to be committed and consistently do what you must, in order to move in the direction of your dreams. Consistency will determine the value of your determination and how far you will get. Of course, it's not an easy task- to stay focus and not lose faith. Developing Daily Habits

I was made aware of this concept whilst I was reading the book 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olson. We have the ability to choose what we want to do with our lives. The distinction between those people who are successful- not referring to financial gain- and those who are unsuccessful comes down to habits. What is it you are making every day that is bringing you forward towards achieving your dreams/ goals. What is it you are doing that is moving you away from your dreams? Successful people do what unsuccessful people don't do. They are committed to self-development, growing, doing what it takes every single day- the mundane actions. Take for example, reading 10 pages a day compounded over time leads to a great deal of pages read. You don't have to start big, but create a momentum. Daily repetitive actions over time lead to accumulation of wealth. The problem here is that not many of us are willing to do those actions every day. We are quick to sink to old habits, we a...
